Change your air filters
If your air filters are dirty, it will slow the air flow down and make your heater or air conditioner work even harder which causes a higher electric bill.
Another consequence of not changing your air filter is that all the dust and dirt can clog up the unit causing it to break down.
Your air filter also catches the things that are in the air like
- Pollen
- Mold
- Bacteria
- Smoke
- Animal hair
If these things are all stuck in the filter then it is being transferred back out into your home and into your lungs.
What you should do:
1. Check your filter every month, if it is dirty, change it.
2. Be sure that you are changing your filter at least every 3 months
Preventative Maintenance Visits
Your AC unit needs a tune up twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. This ensures that your unit is working properly and you won’t be left with no air conditioning in the summer or heat in the winter.

Seal Your Heating and Cooling Ducts
The ducts are what the air travels through to get to each vent in the rooms. The system will be wasting energy if the ducts leak air into places like the attic or basement.
